Inpatient Services
- Comprehensive Psychiatric Services: Acute inpatient psychiatric services are provided for people who are 18 years of age or older who have a primary psychiatric disorder. The unit has a total of 67 beds.
- The Adult Forensic Program provides both inpatient and outpatient services for persons referred by court order from 27 counties and 5 judicial circuits in Southwest Georgia. The Forensic Unit has 19 beds.
- Chemical Dependency Services: Evaluation and acute detoxification services for persons with chemical dependency problems are provided by the Comprehensive Psychiatric Service.
- Mental Retardation/Developmental Disabilities Services: Rose Haven is a 90-bed Intermediate Care Facility (ICF/MR) for the Developmentally Disabled and a 20-bed Nursing Facility.
- Ancillary Services: Dental, EKG, Infection Control, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Diagnostic Radiology, Activity Therapy, Special Education, and Speech, Language, Hearing & Vision, and, by consultation, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, and on-site Ophthalmology and Neurology clinics.
Community Services
- Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program: ACT provides intensive outpatient services to a limited number of adult consumers diagnosed as having severe and persistent mental illness. This outreach program focuses on reducing hospital episodes and improving consumers' quality of life. The ACT Administrative Office is located at SWSH. Teams are located in Albany, Hahira, and Moultrie, Georgia.
- Intensive Treatment Residence (ITR): Southwestern operates two ITRs. The ITRs provide residential services to six adult male consumers diagnosed as having severe and persistent mental illness. ITR consumers receive counseling, supervision and training in daily living skills, and recreation therapy. Consumers attend adult day programs.
- Community Homes: Southwestern operates nine licensed personal care homes for the mentally retarded/developmentally disabled. The community homes provide supervision and training in daily living skills, recreation therapy, and behavior management. The consumers attend the local Mental Retardation Services Center.
- Southwest Georgia Outpatient Juvenile Forensic Evaluation Team: This program serves children and adolescents who have been identified by the juvenile justice system as being in need of evaluation and consultation services but who may not require inpatient services. Services may be provided for youth identified by the mental health system and the Department of Family and Children Services.
- Gateway Dual Diagnosis Community Residential Program (Gateway): This 20-bed intensive treatment program serves consumers with dual diagnoses, i.e., coexisting psychiatric and substance abuse disorders. Consumers are screened and referred to the program by the community mental health/substance abuse services. Length of stay in the program is from 30 to 90 days based on individual assessed clinical need for services. Gateway, operated by SWSH, is a community initiative under community dual diagnosis standards and provides 24-hour/7-days a week services to consumers.
- Behavioral Support Team: The Behavioral Support Team, a community-based program, provides crisis options and behavioral interventions for developmentally disabled individuals who reside in the community by offering supports at various levels of intensity. Tier I service includes consultation, training, and technical assistance. Tier II service includes provision of trained staff to assist in residential coverage. Tier III includes brief respite at the Southwestern Developmental Center.
- Substance Abuse Dual Diagnosis Day Services Program: A time limited, multi-faceted approach treatment service for persons who require structure and support to achieve and sustain recovery. This program operates from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
